The core activities of APSS members are the
various projects carried by the society. This section gives an account
of both current and completed work. Current work is split between that done
in support of the National Museum of Flight and that solely under the
control of APSS.
APSS Projects
The main APSS project is the
assembly
of a new-build Sopwith 1½ Strutter. Other notable APSS activities include historical research and a Radio and Radar section.
APSS
also owns a T53 glider, restored by the society. This
is flown from Portmoak in Perth and Kinross and is usable by members.
NMS Projects
APSS members also work as National Museums of Scotland (NMS) volunteers at the
National Museum of Flight at East Fortune. The projects listed in this section
are on NMS collection items and work is done under the direction of National
Museum of Flight staff.
Completed Projects
Details of some of the major completed projects,
both APSS and NMS, are also shown. |
