Some years ago a proposal was put to the APSS committee
to build a scale model of a locally significant, World War II radar site. This
site was at Drone Hill, north of Coldingham in Berwickshire where, in 1938, a
Chain Home Radar Station was constructed. This fitted well with the aims of the
Radar Group. A team was brought together and the
project started. The result is a 1:500 scale model of the radar station as it
would have looked in 1940/41. This is now on display in the National Museum of
Flight's Radio an Radar exhibition. |
